This type specimen sheet is the origin of our logo. One day we realized that we both had this page from a book, and how much we loved it. So, naturally, it became the basis for our logo. This type of Blackletter was common in Victorian England, beginning with the Cason Typefoundry. The typeface used in our logo was created by Hoefler & Frere-Jones.

An icon by Gerd Arntz
This is one of many (many) icons and images that Gerd Arntz drew for the Isotype project with Otto Neurath. We couldn’t help but show this image, but we promise that this will (probably) be the first and last meat-related image you will see on this site. Take a look at this great website about him and his work: Gerd Arntz.

Cover of the April/May 1955 issue of Panic comic by Al Feldstein.
We recently found this great typographic cover for Panic comics from April/May 1955. Panic was the controversial bi-monthly companion to Mad magazine that ran for 2 years. The cover is by Al Feldstein. Image found via the site Comic Covers.
